The Readers’ Choice Award Winner for the Best Leathergoods Line is Hermes. Paris-based Hermes, which was founded nearly two centuries ago, is one of the world’s most sought-after luxury brands. Known for its hand-crafted leathergoods, Hermes sells its goods through boutiques sprinkled throughout posh enclaves throughout the world.

Harrods is the Readers’ Choice Winner in the Best Department Store/Boutique category. With over one million square feet of selling space and more than 330 departments, Harrods is one of the largest stores in the world. On busy days, some 300,000 shoppers visit the London-based store, serviced by a staff of 5,000 people from 50 different countries. Harrods was also a finalist for in our Best Gourmet Grocer/Food Hall category.

Chanel is the Readers’ Choice Winner in the Best Clothing Designer category. Known for its sumptuous handbags, elegant dresses, and, of course, the interlocking “C” logo, Chanel has been one of the first names in fashion for nearly 100 years.

Knee high and thigh high socks are a huge trend this year.  Unlike buying a new dress, socks are fairly inexpensive so you can spurge a little on this fad.  The key to looking amazing in higher socks is to “pick the length wisely…to suit your body’s shape.”  Stick with knee high socks if you don’t wish to draw attention to larger thighs.  Both above the knee and just below the knee cut socks are available, so try them on to see which you like best.  Below the knee is usually more flattering since you don’t have the “bulge” of your kneecap in the sock.  “If you’re short, knee high socks that cut off below the knee are best paired with a shorter hemline to expose more leg and, thus, imply greater height. The hem should be no lower than the middle of your thigh.”  For taller ladies, thigh high socks provide the perfect opportunity to show off your incredible legs.  Wild colors and textures are part of the fun and fashion of high socks, so you can feel free to go crazy.  However, do not pair high socks with short plaid or pleated skirts.  You do not want to look like a school girl as it is not considered fashionable, just slutty.

The rocker chic vibe that was so popular last season has morphed into a “futuristic warrior” trend this season.  The good news is all the metallic accents and chains from the rocker easily translate to the warrior fad.  Leather is also very vogue.  Don’t think military when you think this trend, instead it combines more elements of ancient Roman or Amazonian soldiers.  Modern elements are mixed with the ancient to create an amazingly unforgettable look.  For example, studded belts, gladiator sandals, and chain jewelry all have that inherent ancient warrior quality to them.  Pair them with flowing feminine blouses, dresses, or skirts or unexpected textures like sequins, velvet, or silk to create an outfit.  “This isn’t the sort of trend where rules should be laid down; it’s open to interpretation and rich with possibility. It’s not intended to be taken too literally either, and works best when an outfit gives the impression of some underlying fierceness rather than the overt look of a costume.”  Tribal patterns should not be forgotten as part of this trend as well.
