Odessa, launched last summer, is yet another departure for Christensen. Its black hull and metallic silver superstructure give the yacht a futuristic appeal, and the raised bulwark along the length of the yacht gives it a more linear profile. Christensen also widened the side decks by six feet to give the European owners more room to roam. The 160-foot motoryacht was also designed to roam the globe, with a transatlantic range of 4,000 miles and top speed of 18 knots. The series approach has allowed Christensen to work out any kinks in the engineering, so its yachts are extremely reliable.

Odessa’s interior was designed around the minimalistic furniture of Armani Casa. Christensen’s design team consulted extensively with Armani on the interior, surrounding the decor with rich, dark hardwoods, muted fabrics, and contrasting stonework such as white onyx and black obsidian. Like the exterior, the overall impression is one of residing in a luxury designer apartment in Paris or New York, though the ocean view is unrivaled. The large rectangular hot tub on the sundeck, a Christensen signature for Odessa, makes the view even more exceptional.

On his web-site he states his home fragrance philosophy:
“You don’t want to perfume a house the way you perfume a person. You don’t want to cover up life’s odors but you want to complement them.”

Not only did Frederic and his partners create 9 new fragrances for the home but also 3 inventive ways, well two innovative and one standard, to diffuse your home with scent.

• Fleur Mecanique: An 11cm red cube which met the teams requirements to be esthetically pleasing, silent (so that you could sleep right next to it), wireless (it recharges like a cell phone), and allows you to create a a natural scent of a fresh bouquet of flowers at will. It comes with 5 choices of fragrance refills.
• Rubber Incense: a unique concept to replace lavender sachets, which often get musty over time, in small places such as closets, and car interiors. The 118g rubber mat emits perfume for a substantial time with out needing a refill or electricity.
• Candles: 9 different handmade candle selections to choose from although it might have been interesting to dispense with this done to death format completely.

The Fleur Mecanique, available only in stores, costs $380 dollars which includes one refill, and candles range in price from $85 – $125 dollars. If you don’t live in Paris or New York you can purchase the perfumes, rubber incense and candles on-line or at one of the many stores such as Barney’s that carry the products worldwide.

Andaz is a new boutique concept from the hotel giant with locations in West Hollywood and London Andaz Wall Street is the first in New York, with another on Fifth Avenue to open this spring. The Wall Street location officially opened to the public on Jan. 18.

At the housewarming, the restaurant, Wall & Water, was packed to the gills as guests gathered around marble “bars” for tastings of smoked salmon, arugula salad, grilled scallops and other bites being cooked before their eyes in the dining room.

Downstairs at , guests could try a choice of several different drink concoctions including a signature bourbon drink served flaming. Instead of a traditional bar with mixologists working their magic on one side and guests on the other, the lounge is laid out with a series of square-marble islands that break down the wall between guest and server, giving the bar an air of a high-end kitchen. Alchemy, a duo behind several successful New York speakeasies, designed the cocktail menu with an appropriately hip retro flair.
